In 1980 thanks to the willingness and organizational skills of church member Edith Lombardo Riverlawn began a Developmental Learning Center (DLC) for preschool age children of the community. In the late 80's the name was changed to Riverlawn Pre-School. Thanks to a number of dedicated directors and teachers through the years our pre-school continues to minister to children of the area.
Because of the changes in the public school’s offerings for preschoolers the Riverlawn Pre-school has undergone some changes during the last few years. We now accept 2 year olds in the program and have introduced a new curriculum that works well with our method of teaching Christian values. The Second Step program is designed to reduce aggressive behavior and increase social competence in children as well as to foster their social and emotional development. Riverlawn Preschool is one of the first schools in this area to introduce and use this Second Step curriculum. Our current staff includes Jane Lothes, Director/Teacher & Debbie Roberts, teacher.
